Package
The Bushnell The Truth ARC Bowhunting Laser Rangefinder comes with a nylon padded pouch that can be worn on your belt. It has a magnetic flap for the laser side. You also get straps that you can use to hang it around your neck, if you wish to do so. Lithium Metal batteries are required to power this device and they are included in the package.
Features of the Bushnell The Truth ARC Bowhunting Laser Rangefinder
The measurement range is 7 – 850 yards and can be separated by three types of ranging performances. Deer, tree, and reflective. 200 yards are recommended for targeting deer, 600 yards for a tree and 850 yards for reflective surfaces like golf flags or flag poles. Mode can be set to meters as well. It has no scan mode for measuring moving targets.
This model has a solid 4x magnification with a 20mm objective lens, giving a level distance of around 7-199 yards as it ranges distance of roughly 7 – 850 yards. This magnification allows accurate and clear vision via the lenses. This rangefinding device has an angle of – 90 degrees – 90 degrees which implies it gives a wide perspective of the surrounding. These components make hunting a ton less demanding and pleasant.
Shooters or hunters need to compute the angle terrain distance and all over territories of horizontal situations when they’re going for shooting or hunting. Also, the measurement ARC (Angle Range Compensation) assists in calculating the ranging point. This compensates for slopes and angles. Like if you are shooting down from a tree stand.
This model comes equipped with clear shot technology. This clear shot technology can give the instantaneous feedback on your shot clearance. Hence, with no stresses, shooters or hunters can watch and permit the hunting ability of branches or other elements.
Another great feature of this model is its built-in LCD screen. As soon as the LCD display illuminates, you will be able to see indicators like the battery life, targets acquired and other useful indicators. Sadly, the display can be difficult to read when there is insufficient ambient light as it is not illuminated and the figures are written in black.
Measuring just 1.4 x 2.4 x 3.8 inches in dimensions and 5.2 ounces in weight, this unit is very compact and lightweight and you will not have any problems using it for a long period of time.
This one shuts down automatically after being idle for 30 seconds. This will help save battery life and will give you peace of mind that it will just power down in case you forgot to do it yourself.
The Bushnell Truth Bowhunting Laser Rangefinder can adjust to severe weather conditions. The device is rain proof; therefore nothing will happen to it even if it is rained on. Also, it works well in dusty, windy, and even foggy conditions. This model is rubber coated so that it will be protected from any sort of harm. The equipment also comes accompanied with a carrying. In addition, the laser beams of this device have been built to work in misty conditions even. This is a great feature that guarantees you to utilize the equipment any day regardless of the climate conditions.
This unit has a single button operational system, which simply means that every operation can be done one-handed by pushing this single button. Simple and easy as bowhunters and rifle hunters would expect from a device like this.
Uses of the Bushnell The Truth ARC Bowhunting Laser Rangefinder
Bowhunting/hunting
This one is quiet, compact and small in size. Together with the ARC technology and bow mode it determines compensated distance based on the angle of your shot so you always know what pin to use from 7 to 199 yards. Just don’t expect wonders from it.
Deer may be doable up to 200 yards, but everything above will be very hard to do, depending on your skills. The ARC technology also compensates for slopes and angles, like if you are shooting down from a tree stand. Especially bowhunters will appreciate all those features.
A downside is that it – like most of the other models available – can have problems when you are trying to target a black or dark surface. In such a case you need to find a lighter object that is near enough the actuall game you want to hunt.
Golfing
This unit has some excellent features required for golfing and I think both expert and beginner golfers will find this equipment quite useful. As it has no pin-lock technology you still have to do some workarounds for certain situations. Like if there is a tree behind the flag pole. Then you have to find objects near the green to get a good measurement of the distance.
Price
Currently being sold for around $200, this device can’t be put in the “cheap rangefinders” category, but – looking at its features – I think it is worth it. At the end, you get what you pay for, right? So if you want to have angle compensation, you need to spend a bit more. Apart from that there are many models out there, that cost twice or thrice as much. So all in all it seems to be a good deal.
Summary
The Bushnell The Truth ARC Bowhunting Laser Rangefinder is a very good choice especially for bowhunters. It is also a good option for rifle hunters due to the angle compensation and the clearshot technology.
Golfers can use it as well. But be aware that there is no pin-lock technology integrated that will lock onto Flags with a sound or vibration, which may makes it hard targeting small objects if there are others behind them.
